Categories & Types of
Antivirus
Basically, antivirus
is divided into three categories, depending on the function for which
they were designed.
In
the first place, there are the so-called “Preventive Antivirus”, which
fulfill the function, as its name indicates, of anticipating the infection by
intercepting and analyzing all data input and output operations. It should
be noted that this type of antivirus to perform its task must
be installed on the disk and reside in the memory of the PC, which is why they
take up many resources that in the end slow down the computer.
Another
type of antivirus is called "Identifying Antivirus", whose
primary function is to identify threats that may already be active on our
computer, and that affect system performance. To achieve its mission,
this type of antivirus analyzes all files on the computer in
search of byte strings related to malware.
The
last type of antivirus is called "Decontaminating Antivirus" ,
whose purpose is to eliminate an infection when it has already occurred and
attacked the computer. Many of these antiviruses will also try to revert
to the state before the infection occurred.
What is the Best Antivirus?
This
is a difficult question to answer, since there are variables that each user
must take into account when choosing the best antivirus for their
PC. Although literally dozens of antivirus are distributed, both free
and paid, the truth is that not all antivirus offer the sufficient degree of
security that they should.
In
the event that we are looking for an effective antivirus that
complies with the most modern requirements and standards in the fight against
malware, viruses and other threats, these are some of the most renowned names
of free antivirus on the market, which we can use as base
until we find the one that best suits our specific needs and requirements.
o Microsoft Windows Defender
o Microsoft Security Essentials
o AVG Free Antivirus
o Avast! Free Antivirus
o Avira Antivirus Personal
Advantages and
disadvantages of ANTIVIRUS
for PC and online antivirus
We
mentioned above that not all antivirus are the same. That is
why from this point we will learn the differences that exist between the two
types of antivirus most used today: antivirus in the cloud or
traditional antivirus, that is, the one we install on the
computer. In this review we will be able to have an overview of which of
the mentioned systems best suits our requirements.
Cloud
computing or Cloud Computing, as it is also known, is a metaphor used to easily
understand the concept of computing operations carried out outside of our
computer, that is, all those actions that we develop in a decentralized
environment . A very clear example of this are applications such as Drop
Box or Google Docs.
